Why the Chicago Cubs?
Since the Cubs were introduced to me they have yet to fail me.
Wrigley Field is a place where my dad first gifted my brother and I the love of baseball. For my father the game reminded him a bit of home and his passion for cricket. For us it was a chance to bond as well as start a lifelong journey in our passion for sports.
Players may have changed over the years, the spirit of the team never has. The Cubs have both literally and figuratively dried my tears countless times. The team and I have certainly endured many heartbreaks together. Whether it was a disappointing season for them or a disappointing moment in my life we have found a way to move forward together.
For me the history of this team finds a way to make their fans feel at home from wherever they are taking in the game. Difficult moments in life have somehow been made more gentle with the constant rhythm of Cubs baseball.
For many the passion of sports is just this, a constant that helps us navigate life with a bit more ease as we watch our teams struggle as well as triumph.
In difficult moments throughout my life the noise of Cubs baseball has been a constant that I have been able to rely on.
